The Trading Deadline Has Past and the Mets Won 6 in a Row

Noah Syndergaard, Zach Wheeler, and Todd Frazier were not traded at the deadline.  The Mets subtracted Jason Vargas and added Marcus Stroman which helps their starting rotation.  However, the bullpen is still very shaky as Jeurys Familia and Edwin Diaz have been very inconsistent.  They have won 6 in a row, but they can just as easily go into a losing streak.  Their next 8 games are against weak teams so they could hit the.500 mark in early August.  My prediction is that they will finish with 79-82 wins and be several games behind the second wild-card position.

The Yankees did not make any moves at the deadline but need more starting pitching especially if Luis Severino does not return.  They still have a comfortable lead in the AL East, but the next 4 games against the Red Sox will be very important.
