Bruce's Journal

Bruce Slutsky was born in New York City in 1949. I retired six years ago after working as a Science/Engineering Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark for 25 years. I was married to Karen until she passed away in February 2021. I have a son Lee who is now 35 years old. I am very much interested in the popular music of the 1960s, especially Bob Dylan and the Beatles. I am interested in rock and roll radio. I am an enthusiastic fan of the New York Mets.

Now it is Bob Dylan's Turn to Critique Other Songwriters

It was announced in Rolling Stone and other publications that in November Bob Dylan will publish "The Philosophy of Modern Song" which will be a collection of 60 essays about songs by other artists. The announcement states only the following four:

Stephen Foster
Elvis Costello
Hank Williams
Nina Simone

But who else will Dylan critique?

Paul McCartney?
Paul Simon?
Roger McGuinn?
Neil Diamond?
George Harrison?

I guess we won't know until the book is published until November. Over the years umpteen books have been written criticizing his lyrics and music. Now the tables will be turned as he can critique others. I must say that he is quite busy for an 80-year old.
