I first joined Facebook to use it as an outreach tool to students at NJIT. I made friends with many students who have been on my list for over 3 years. In order to build up a friends list, I also sought out others with the surname Slutsky even though I was not related to them. My friends list hit a maximum of 476. This morning I deleted about 80 friends whom I felt I did not know. Facebook was not successful as an out reach tool and many of those students have graduated from NJIT. I also deleted one person who use a very obnoxius handle on Facebook. I do believe that on should reveal his true identity on social networking sites.There are more important things in this world than Facebook. :)
