Bruce's Journal

Bruce Slutsky was born in New York City in 1949. I retired six years ago after working as a Science/Engineering Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark for 25 years. I was married to Karen until she passed away in February 2021. I have a son Lee who is now 35 years old. I am very much interested in the popular music of the 1960s, especially Bob Dylan and the Beatles. I am interested in rock and roll radio. I am an enthusiastic fan of the New York Mets.

Remembering Where the Action Is

I remember my high school days when I turned the TV on at 4:30 PM and watched Where the Action is hosted by Dick Clark. He featured the top 40 hits of the day. There were several regular performers on the show including:

Steve Alaimo
Paul Revere and the Raiders
Keith Allison (Paul McCartney look a like)
Tina Mason

I subscribe to Goldmine Magazine which advertises vinyl, CDs, and DVDs from the oldies era. I just received two DVDs featuring shows from that series. It certainly brought back some nice memories of the mid 1960s. Some months ago I viewed some shows of Shindig and Hullabaloo at the Paley Center in Manhattan.
