Too Late by Bob Dylan - An Infidels Outtake Just Released

There are numerous outtakes and alternative versions of Bob Dylan's songs that are unreleased.  Many have seen the "light of day" in the Bootleg Series of CDs.  Likely, there are enough recordings that can be issued in future CDs for many years to come.  Too Late is an Infidels outtake that is considered an early of Foot of Pride.  There is no Bob Dylan version on Youtube, so I am showing Lou Reed's version at the  30th Anniversary Concert in October 1992.

A "band" version of Too Late was published on YouTube on July 21, 2021.  Rather than create a new journal entry for it, I'll revise this entry.  I must assume that both versions will appear on Bootleg Series #16 Sometime in NY that will be released on September 17, 2021

I Can Take off My Mask Outdoors Some of the Time

The Centers for Disease Control has issued new guidelines for wearing masks for people who are fully vaccinated.  This is good news for me as I often take long walks through city parks and streets in residential areas.  I am usually at least 6 feet from other people anyway.  I will have to take my mask with me in the event I have to go indoors.  I just hate it when my eyeglasses fog up.

I pray that this miserable pandemic will end so that normalcy can return.

Doing the Laundry Takes Up Too Much Time!

There are so many steps involved in doing the laundry:

1. Empty the hampers.

2. Separate the colored and white clothes

3. Bring the laundry bags to the basement

4. Place the laundry in the washers.

5. Wait for the machines to finish. (I usually go upstairs during this time)

6. Take the elevator down to the basement again

7.Taking the laundry out of the washers and placing them in the dryers.

8.Waiting for the dryers. (Today I did a few errands during this 30 minute period.  I mailed a letter and bought bagels for tomorrow's breakfast.)

9. Taking the clothes out and bringing them to the apartment

10. Folding the clothes.

11. Putting the clothes away.

This morning I started the process at 7:40 AM and finished at 10 AM.

Well, there are more undesirable activities in this world.  For example:

1. Riding an NJ Transit train.

2. Waiting for the bean counter say "Is there anything else for the good of the order."

3. Staring out at a computer lab waiting for mundane questions.

So is life.

Salute Her When Her Birthday Comes - April 22

Karen on Mother's Day 2011

I will be busy tomorrow morning, so I thought I would post this today.  April 22 would have been Karen's 66th birthday.  It will be sad since we will be apart for the first time on her special day.  I am dedicating a Bob Dylan song to her, She Belongs to Me which first appeared on his Bringing It All Back Home album in 1965.  I am featuring a cover by Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band seen on the Mike Douglas show in 1969.

She’s got everything she needs
She’s an artist, she don’t look back
She’s got everything she needs
She’s an artist, she don’t look back
She can take the dark out of the nighttime
And paint the daytime black

You will start out standing
Proud to steal her anything she sees
You will start out standing
Proud to steal her anything she sees
But you will wind up peeking through her keyhole
Down upon your knees

She never stumbles
She’s got no place to fall
She never stumbles
She’s got no place to fall
She’s nobody’s child
The Law can’t touch her at all

She wears an Egyptian ring
That sparkles before she speaks
She wears an Egyptian ring
That sparkles before she speaks
She’s a hypnotist collector
You are a walking antique

Bow down to her on Sunday
Salute her when her birthday comes
For Halloween give her a trumpet
And for Christmas, buy her a drum

My Birthday with a Heavy Heart

This photo was taken at the Oldies Meet and Greet in October 2013

I'll never forget our first date in August 1980 when I saw a knick-knack in her apartment with Taurus the Bull.  She said her birthday was April 22 while mine was April 21, but not in the same year.  I never heard the end of that.  Every year in April we would go out to dinner and a Broadway show to celebrate our mutual birthdays.  Obviously, with her untimely passing, we can no longer do that.  Last weekend Lee and I went out for breakfast on Saturday and dinner on Sunday.

Life must go on.

I thank all my Facebook friends who wished me a happy birthday.
