Bruce's Journal

Bruce Slutsky was born in New York City in 1949. I retired six years ago after working as a Science/Engineering Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark for 25 years. I was married to Karen until she passed away in February 2021. I have a son Lee who is now 35 years old. I am very much interested in the popular music of the 1960s, especially Bob Dylan and the Beatles. I am interested in rock and roll radio. I am an enthusiastic fan of the New York Mets.

Getting Ready for the Dylan Concert at Nassau Coliseum Tonight

I decided to take a vacation day to rest up before going to the concert at Nassau Coliseum tonight. Back in 2006, we saw Dylan there, I remember picking up Lee at the Samuel Field Y and continuing on to Uniondale. Since then I was there for a few Islander games, but tonight I am going there for the first time since the arena was renovated. Since the Islanders are gone, I think it is used mostly for concerts.

Last night I received an email from Ticketmaster reminding me of the concert and telling me about parking. It is $30 to pay for parking at the gate, but if I order it online I would only have to pay $20. Either way, it is very expensive to park, but it would be very difficult to get there by public transportation.

Last night as I was watching the Knick game, the camera showed Mavis Staples in the stands. She is the opening act tonight. I wonder what Dylan was doing last night.
