I am grateful that my co-op offers parking garages. For $75 a month, it is a blessing since I never have to hunt for a parking spot when I get home. However, when I travel, I must find parking upon arrival. I often take public transportation, so I don't have to worry about parking. I refer my readers to this article in the New York Times that discusses parking in the city. It states that on the average, a New Yorker will spend 107 hours a year looking for parking.
