At about 4 AM last night, I was awoken by sirens. When I went downstairs this morning, I saw there was a big fire at H Mart, a Korean grocery store. Fortunately, no civilians or firefighters were injured, but I assume that all the food in the store was destroyed. Since H Mart carries very little American food, I only shop there when I need bananas. Likely, the store's employees will be laid off as it would take a long time to repair the damage
There are other H Marts within a short drive of this location, thus the Korean community will have other places to purchase their ethnic food.

That’s a shame Bruce. I loved going to Hmart when I still lived in Flushing. The fruit and vegetables were fresh and really beautiful. Loved the fish section, different varieties at reasonable prices. The shrimp was fantastic. True that a lot of the packaging was written in Korean but I always found someone who could translate and educate. The marinated meats were top-notch I hope they can rebuild.
