David Wright to Play During Mets Last Home Stand reports that David Wright will be activated for the Mets last homestand from September 25-30 and will start at 3rd base for the last time on September 29th against the Miami Marlins.  He suffered from spinal stenosis which is a condition, not an injury and has undergone three surgeries in recent years.  His determination to return must be admired by all.  The article did not indicate retirement but states that David does not expect to be ready to play in the future.

His not playing for the last 2 1/2 years likely precludes him from being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, but obviously will make it to the Mets Hall of Fame.  It would be a crime if Mets management did not retire his number 5.

We already have tickets for the closing game on September 30.  Perhaps David will pinch-hit in that game.
