Thinking ahead to baseball season
Although I am a big Mets fan, I like to go to a few Yankee games each season. Today the Yankees put single game tickets on sale. We bought tickets for May 27th against the LA Angels of Anaheim and for August 4th against the Kansas City Royals. The tickets were in the upper deck down the right field line. The Yankees sold over 4 million tickets last season so I knew it would be hard to get good seats. Likely, the better seats for weekend games are sold through packages. We already bought a 7 pack of tickets for Mets games. More about baseball later.

Catch and Release (Movie)
I went to the BBC2 radio site today but Sounds of the Sixties was not listed. Apparently they didn't archive this week's show. Anyway, I am listening to Gary Jackson's My Generation Show which features obscure British oldies from the 60s. We didn't do all much today. We went to the local multiplex and saw the movie Catch and Release starring Jennifer Garner.

Ben's Deli and College Basketball (Again)
If you read my blog entry of December 30th, you can see that we ate dinner at Ben's Deli on West 38th Street and from there to Madison Square Garden to see a college basketball doubleheader. Today we went to CW Post in Brookville, LI and saw Bridgeport beat CW Post 80 -75. Bridgeport had a 25 point lead early in the second half which almost eroded but they held on to win. From there we went to the Ben's Deli at the intersection of Northern Blvd and Glen Cove Road in Greenvale for dinner. We finished at about 6:45 and listened to Saturday Night Oldies in the car. When we got home I listened to Mark Simone interview Jerry Mathers of Leave it to Beaver fame. I think all kids who grew up in the late 50s and early 60s watched the Beaver. Those were the days.

Hofstra Basketball Today
Today we drove out to Hempstead to see Hofstra's basketball team beat William and Mary 77 - 69. We usually see a couple of games over there each season. You can see Division I basketball for $8/ticket.

Nets beat Knicks 101-100
We didn't go to the game but we watched it on TV. The Knicks scored 11 straight points to take a one point lead, but with 2.8 seconds left the Nets scored the winning basket. The same thing happened Wednesday night when the Knicks lost to the Washington Wizards by a basket in the last 2.2 seconds. Din, I guess this makes you very happy.

Knicks Won for us today
For the third year in a row the family saw the Knicks play at Madison Square Garden on Martin Luther King Day. This time the Knicks beat the Sacramento Kings 102-97 in a game that was close all the way. Stephon Marbury lead the Knicks with 25 points. For more details on the game please see http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=270115018 . Alan B, a regularly reader of this blog was also at the game and stopped by to chat a couple of times.
