There are several local newspapers like the Queens Tribune and Queens Tribune which advertise interesting events. It is very expensive to see a Broadway show so it is nice to see a production by a local community group at a much lower cost. Today we went to the Marathon Jewish Community Center in Douglaston to see a production of 42nd Street. The play premiered on Broadway in 1980 and ran for 3500 shows in 9 years. It was based on the 1933 musical film. this production even featured live music. We enjoyed the show.Bruce Slutsky was born in New York City in 1949. I retired 8 years ago after working as a Science/Engineering Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark for 25 years. I was married to Karen until she passed away in February 2021. I have a son Lee who is now 37 years old. I am very much interested in the popular music of the 1960s, especially Bob Dylan and the Beatles. I am interested in rock and roll radio. I am an enthusiastic fan of the New York Mets.

Yes, there's nothing like a local community paper to keep one abreast of what's going on in your neck of the woods (unlike a national paper like USA Today and the Wall St. Journal)

Did you mean another Queens paper (ie, the Chronicle, Courier, Ledger...)?
Frank, yes there are several local Queens newspapers that we pick up for free every week.
